P6H - Computing Science
This morning we took part in a live code a long session with over 3000 pupils from across Scotland. We used a programme called Scratch to code and make a butterfly garden. It was great fun and used lots of our creative and problem solving skills.
P6H - Measuring
Today in class we were measuring using tenths of a metre. We recorded our answers as fractions and also decimal fractions. Our measuring skills linked nicely to our work last week when we were learning all about decimal fractions.
P3/2 Halloween Monsters
Great way to finish up for Halloween this week with the children constructing some scary monsters. Hope they tasted as good as they looked!
P3/2 Halloween Measure
This week we started learning about what tools we use to measure different things. We applied this knowledge when we made our fizzy potions and lava lamps for Halloween. We needed just the right amount of ingredients to get the mixtures to fizz but stay within the jar.
P3/2 Halloween STEM
This week we have been carrying out some science experiments in P3/2. We tried different ways to make ghosts wail and fly and used our feedback to improve our techniques.
P6H - Symmetry
On Friday morning we used our problem solving skills to create patterns with one and two lines of symmetry using cuisenaire rods.

P6S - Roman Numerals
P6 have continued their learning about Roman Numerals this week. They can now interpret and write in Roman Numerals, understanding the 7 basic letters used. Ness Book Fest Reading Record with P3/2
The children loved being part of the Ness Book read in this morning. We listened to a chapter from our class novel Fantastic Mr Fox where we focused on clarifying some of the vocabulary and text that was unfamiliar to us. Then we had some time for personal reading for enjoyment.
More Maths Week in P3/2
The children used their problem solving skills to turn their 100 squares into jigsaw puzzles today, this demonstrated their understanding of ordering and sequencing to 100.
Maths Week in P3/2
The children were able to revise their shape and symmetry knowledge by completing these beautiful Rangoli patterns. One amazing pupil even made their own pattern with perfect symmetry, great work!
P3/2 Measuring the weather
We have been investigating different equipment to measure aspects of the weather, a weather vane, a thermometer and a rainfall gauge. Now we must wait for nature so we can see how they work!
